Kulia I Ka Nu`u
An Accelerated Interactive Montessori-Home Instruction (AIM-HI) Prorgam

Kulia I Ka Nu`u is a Montessori community-based preschool curriculum designed to prepare parents to give their children ages 3-5 a jump start on school readiness and school success. It integrates Hawaiian culture, values and language and empowers parents to be their child's first and best teacher! Parents learn how to give their child a jump start on literacy, math, art, social studies, science and more.

This program has adopted Queen Kapi'olani's motto "Kulia I Ka Nu`u" which means to "strive for the highest peak". The curriculum is an experiential integration of the Montessori approach and Hawaiian culture. Working with nurturing, professional Parent Educators, parents make educational materials, receive school supplies and original children's books, and learn to implement daily step-by-step curriculum.

Developers of the Kulia I Ka Nu`u curriculum recognize that high levels of ability and achievement exist within every child. Therefore, every lesson is written with increasing levels of difficulty to allow each child to be successful at his or her own pace.

Kulia I Ka Nu`u meets the developmental needs of the child requiring support and strengthening of basic preschool skills while also providing challenging experiences for gifted youngsters. Participating children will also receive free developmental screenings and evaluations.

Kulia I Ka Nu`u was written by experienced educators with years of direct preschool teaching experience, certification by the American Montessori Society, fluency in Hawaiian language, and deep knowledge of Hawaiian values and traditions. The curriculum is cutting edge and gives Native Hawaiian children the building blocks for kindergarten success.
