The Lokahi Giving Project is a unique partnership between Hawai`i's number one news station, KHON2 and the family-strengthening non-profit organization Keiki O Ka 'Āina Family Learning Centers.
Since being established in 1985 by co-founder and Social Services Director Mariellen Jones, Lokahi has helped Hawai`i's struggling families by providing them with life's basic necessities, year round emergency assistance, and brighter holiday seasons.
Lokahi lends a helping hand to those who face a life crisis or emergency situation beyond their control. It not only assists the poorest of the poor, but also the struggling gap group not qualified for assistance by any other programs.
Lokahi works hand in hand with over 200 nonprofit agencies, social service agencies, shelters, group homes, and hospitals helping the most deserving families and individuals.
Keiki O Ka 'Āina
Keiki O Ka 'Āina has been working closely with Lokahi for several years and is committed to supporting the vision and goals of Lokahi through Keiki O Ka 'Āina's efforts to build strong communities by building strong families.
Lokahi Adopt A Family Program
We match a wide range of individual donors as well as social groups, businesses, and schools who wish to share the Lokahi spirit with families or seniors who really need some holiday cheer and basic necessities. Non-profits, group homes, shelters and hospitals refer their most deserving clients to participate in this program. Everyone can find away that meets their resources and desire to help.
How You Can Help
Year round monetary donations, gift cards or gifts in-kind to the Lokahi Giving Project are gratefully accepted. Gifts will be matched with families that have specific needs. The gifts may include school supplies. clothing, toys, household goods, or special items.
