With the excitement and joy that comes with a new baby, parents can sometimes feel isolated and frustrated about their abilities, or just want to share the excitement of the daily changes in their lives with others who understand. After all, parenting isn't a skill that just comes naturally. It is a process of learning, changing, adapting, and growing just like your newborn!
That is why Keiki O Ka `Aina Family Learning Centers offers Parents As Teachers, a nationally acclaimed parenting programs for families of infants and toddlers. (As a child turns three, parents are encouraged to become part of our Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Program, and/or our Parent Participation Preschools.)
As a fully accredited PAT Program Site, Keiki O Ka `Aina Family Learning Centers offers a home-based program for families that begins before the child is born the onset of learning and extends to age three. Through home visits, the program offers parents practical and research-based strategies to encourage their children’s intellectual, language, social-emotional, and motor skills.
These strategies also enhance parent-child interactions and strengthen family relationships. Because literacy is a major focus of PAT, books are used in every visit.
The Born to Learn Curricula, provided through supportive, certified PAT parent educator’s home visits, assists parents in understanding the latest neuroscience research and how it relates to their babies and toddlers. Lively monthly group meetings make the experience a real pleasure for parents. Families may begin at any time.
